Trader Joe’s Eggnog
Trader Joe’s Eggnog has become a staple in my seasonal festivities. It’s a bit surprising that an eggnog as easily accessible as this one could be as good as it is. Living in Utah, but having been raised in NY, there are many eggnogs from my childhood that I remember fondly but unfortunately no longer have access to. If I could average each and every one of those eggnogs I believe you would get Trader Joe’s. The aroma, the flavor, the thickness; this eggnog has everything you remember from childhood without tasting exactly like any of your favorites. This is a good thing as it sets it apart from all others. This isn’t the thickest nog available but it’s certainly on the thicker side and let’s face it, when you take that first gulp you want to feel like your beverage has some weight to it. You want it to stick on your top lip so you can smile that goofy smile for all to see; a warm declaration that Christmas is here and that you’re “saving it for later”. So how about taste? It tastes wonderful. It has a very full flavor with just the right amount of nutmeg. It is not overbearing nor does it leave an undesirable aftertaste.
At 540 calories per 12 ounces this will easily count as a full meal if you tally up calories but honestly, what else could you possibly want out of breakfast? Bonus: it contains egg, the most breakfast-ee of foods.
