Organic Valley Eggnog
Our first review of the season is of the Organic Valley Eggnog found nationwide in Walmart. I was excited to try this Eggnog mostly because I have seen it for years and never thought to give it a chance. It doesn’t hurt that it appears to be certified organic. The packaging was also nice with a screw off top which makes pouring easy and storage even easier. Texture and consistency: very thin and almost runny. I re-shook the eggnog just to be certain I had done it enough and still it was quite watery. Not my cup of tea, but i’m sure there are plenty of people that would prefer a less “weighty” nog. So how about the flavor: to be honest it wasn’t very strong with the exception of a very dominant nutmeg taste. This can be either good or bad depending on what you are going for. The stronger the flavor, the better the eggnog lends itself to sipping. The lighter the flavor, the easier it is to drink more. The real test is what kind of taste is left in your mouth. Unfortunately I found that in the following minutes after drinking this eggnog the flavor became rather sour and unpleasant.
At an average of 540 calories per 12 ounce glass, it isn’t the most calorie laden nog we’ve tested but it should be considered when enjoying your favorite beverage of the season.
